First Vice District Governor Alena Hoeffling |
Alena grew up a military daughter living in many places, but calls Kodiak, Alaska her home. She has worked in sales most of her life, first as a newspaper advertising salesperson/designer for the Kodiak Mirror. She later opened a Tupperware business to work from home with her 3 small kids. Alena and her team of 135 consultants won awards for sales and recruiting at the national level. In 2004, Alena was hired as an insurance agent in Anchorage, Alaska. Continuing as an agent once moving to Missouri in 2005, she worked for State Farm Insurance and later, AAA Missouri. Alena retired from insurance and ran a home daycare from 2010 to 2017. She now substitutes for Sedalia 200 school district while pursuing a degree in social work.
Alena married Aaron Hoeffling becoming a military wife in 1999 and blended their 5 young children, Arthur, Kristi, Christopher, Ian and Taylor into one chaotic family. Their last child Eden was added to the bunch shortly after moving to Sedalia. Alena joined the lions August 1, 2009. She has served in many committees for events, creating and chairing the Crop’n Shop event twice a year since 2010. Alena served as her clubs Membership Chair, three years as Vice President, President and 26-M5 Zone Chair during 2020-2021. After 32 years of being a mom with kids at home, empty nesting is in the very near future and the time is right to serve the district level. |

Global Membership Team Coordinator Duane Ball |
Hello my name is Lion Duane Ball and if you have not had a chance to meet me yet or had me out to one of your club’s meetings, I am the Global Membership Chairman for District 26 M5. Here’s a little more information about myself. I was born and raised in south Kansas City and graduated from the Center School District. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication and a minor in Business from Drury University in Springfield Missouri. After graduation, I took a position working for a simultaneous language interpretation and convention company based out of Washington, D.C. and traveled around the country for 10 years before finally settling back in Kansas City. I then worked for the Shawnee Mission School District helping families, staff and parents with computer and information technology problems. I am married and have two children who also recognize the importance of serving others. I taught Sunday school for 10 years, have been a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for the last 15 years and most importantly a Lion with the Kansas City Red Bridge Lions club for 19 years and counting. I became a Lion for the simple reason that a former high school teacher asked me a question “What had I done for someone else today”. When I retired in 2021 my goal was to use my time to serve. I am busier today than when I was working and I challenge everyone to do the same. I am serving in this position to help you and your clubs and look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you better as Lions and friends. |
